Beginning 2002
Tobi is the administrator of several Debian machines at his home-university in Bayreuth. He is not at all satisfied with the available mirror solutions. The idea of a low maintenance "on-the-fly" mirror applications forms in his mind.

September 2003
Tobi (from Germany) and Jonas (from Sweden) are coming to UCSB as exchange students and happen to end up sharing an appartment in the El Dorado complex.
Jamie is a Computer Engineering Major in his final year and their RC, also living at El Dorado.

December 2003
Jonas and Tobi decide to take "CS50 - Programming Project" together. Jamie joins in - because he needs an A. Whatever. ;-)

January 2004
CS50 starts. On January 10th "apt-got" gets officially registered as the groups project.

March 2004
CS50 ends. All teammembers get a A or A+!
Tobias continues the project as Senior Programming Project (cs189b)

April 2004
Project gets registered with sourceforge and freshmeat.
